Part 1 of my series on the new-age spirituality.
The term “New Age” refers to the expectation that all of humanity is on the verge of entering into a new age of being awakened to our true nature, our true spirituality.
In this piece, I offer a detailed exploration of New Age consciousness, often associated with a decentralized, eclectic metaphysical spiritual religion emphasizing personal empowerment, holistic health, and the belief that individual consciousness can evolve to a divine, "higher" state. While not intended to be very exhaustive, the article aims to outline core ideas to help map and better understand this worldview.
We don’t talk enough about discernment.
Not in faith. Not in life. Not in whom we choose to believe.
Discernment is one of those quiet phrases we hear often, but rarely pause to understand the meaning behind the energy that sits beneath each individual's choice & decision making process. It is a cognitive ability that can be learned and developed. It is also closely linked to critical thinking and careful evaluation. Additionally, it involves how the subconscious mind renders a 3D perception based on how the nervous system interprets our emotions, beliefs, and what we accept as truth. This skill is valuable, yet it is often underrated.
Good discernment is all about making sound judgments that align with God's will in such a complex world. Improving our judgment is essential for navigating everyday life effectively in a balanced approach that rejects suspicion and blind optimism. It also involves recognising that the inherited perception is just one of many truths.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines ‘discernment’ as “the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure.” In simpler terms, it refers to the ability to see, understand, and judge situations or information clearly. Spiritual Insight, perceptiveness, and mental sharpness are often required to distinguish real from illusion and to differentiate between what is good and what is best.
As individuals and as a collective, discernment is wisdom in practice. Wisdom that stems from lived experiences, and learned knowledge.
“Eyes will not see when the heart wishes them to be blind.” - Seneca. Each of us carries a deep well of spirit within. This spirit is an essential part of our humanity and connects us to the Almighty. It drives our quest for meaning in life. Whether you are aware of it or not, holy spirit guides us on the journey through this life.
Higher consciousness that expressed itself through christ and the prophets can be manifested anywhere at anytime as the kingdom of God is already within you. Luke 17:21 "nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is "in your midst." Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God is not a physical , observable place but rather "in your midst" or within you. This signifies that God's reign is a present spirit in your reality; not a specific location, not a political kingdom, but can found in the hearts and lives of believers. Self-awareness is enlightening. It brings a sense of resurrection, positivity, and transformative change.
Psychosis is characterized by a disconnection from reality, often resulting from living on autopilot and acting unconsciously. This condition leads to a lack of coherent energy, as a person’s thoughts, emotions, and actions are not aligned. This misalignment can create a split in identity, resulting in a distorted perception of self and the environment. Experiencing psychosis can be mentally challenging and physically distressing, and it may evoke feelings of abandonment.
It is important to tell the two apart, as they may appear similar on the surface but lead to entirely different outcomes. You’re fortunate if you’ve experienced both realities, as most souls only live in one, given that individual paths differ. Ultimately, for the chosen ones, the later path is meant to lead you back to discovering yourself. Psychosis is where the real work begins for light, dark, and shadow empaths.
If the subconscious mind, which includes habits, memories, and beliefs, forms the mindset, wouldn't it be important to take a moment for honest reflection and ask yourself: Did you choose all of your current beliefs, or were they taught to you? Are your thoughts genuinely your own, or are they simply ideas you’ve never questioned? Many people are not fully aware of the truth!
